Donovan's language skills have exploded this week. All of a sudden, one day, he was imitating words and word combos that he'd never attempted before, and putting words together much more coherently. Among his greatest achievements: holding a stuffed animal in front of his face, saying "Where go baby?" Then pulling it away and saying "Here baby!" Along with experimenting with possessives: "Wow... wow Mommy!" when holding mommy's water glass ("wow" is water in certain contexts). Today he was in the bedroom, and started saying, "Where go choo choo train? Where go choo choo train?" and then was flinging stuff over his shoulder to unearth the toy chest, where his peek-a-blocks train has been stored for at least two months. What a memory! What a mess! ;-)
He also fell asleep all by himself, without any of the three sleep helpers that he normally requires: (a) sitting on mommy's or daddy's lap, nursing/bouncing (respectively) to sleep; (b) being in transit, either in a vehicle or on someone's back; or (c) being in bed in the dark with mommy and daddy there (which is still a rare occurrence). There's a picture of him sacked out on the living room floor in front of the TV.
